Happy Labor Day weekend everyone! 

Before you hit the beach or put on your grilling apron, please take a moment to remember the real reason we're off work and enjoying the company of family and friends. 

Labor Day honors the American labor movement and the contributions that workers have made to the prosperity, productivity, protections and good fortune of the United States.

We owe so much to the labor movement. Whether it's the eight-hour work day, child labor laws, paid family leave, worker protections, pensions or retirement benefits - the labor movement has been at the forefront of the American conversation to create work/life balance.

Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness are within closer reach for all of us because of the great strides made by unionized labor workers. 

This Saturday, please join me for a celebration of American workers at the annual OC Labor Federation picnic at the Santa Ana Zoo.
